I've read in the past of people damaging the front of the chassis through snatching to hard.

The reason I ask is i've just drawn up a winch bracket that bolts to the usuall four bolts at the front. However I want to be able to run a 12,000lb winch on a double line pull.

Has anyone done a pull like this off the front of a P38?

Yep, my old 1995 P38 had a couple of recovery points bolted and welded to the chassis rails. Used them a few times with an equalising strap with no issues. Last time it was used was being snatched out of a river with a fair bit of water inside the cabin to add to the drag.

The Hard Range Roo Bar (no longer a Hard Range product) uses the same four bolt holes you mention, with bigger bolts. It is rated for a winch. So, if you have made up a cradle that uses these bolt holes and is held rigidly between the rails, sounds like a good thing.

I'm hoping so Paul. It'll sit in behind the original bumper, and you fold the number plate up when you want to use the winch.

I've decided to brace it back to the radiator crossmember just to be sure. There's nothing like confidence when your suctioned down in the wet sand!
