-I used to run ultracool coolant in my tdi[i know its not a v8] and it set rock hard in the radiator breather-expansion bottle hose and caused me similar dramas, as usual i looked to hard and missed the obvious and found that while i was replacing a good head gasket.

I bought VDO 15 psi boost gauge on fleabay. Came with plastic tubing. Ran it to inlet manifold. Mine is 300TDi Defender and there is a blank threaded plug in the back close to the head. Bought an adapter 12mm x 1.5? To 1/8npt. I actually posted then thread details in another post on here when I did it about 4 months ago.
It works a treat. Maximum boost on mine is about 14.7psi so I get full scale.

I have the same gauge and stock it would read 15.5psi (taken from the boost compensator connection)
After upping the fuel it reads up to 16.5-17 psi going by how far off the scale it goes. :D
It's been doing that for seven years or so, and still works well.
