Hi All
Has anyone changed the rear main oil seal on a 2.25 petrol motor while in place in engine bay. When gearbox is removed for a clutch and pressure plate replacement.
How hard a job is this, or do I need to take the motor out. The motor is good but rear main seal is leaking.
Any special tips, advice needed.

Regards
Mike

We did it on mine and it was an absolute PITA. It was extremely difficult to get to - I am convinced humans aren't meant to bend like that. In the end, I was about to pull the engine to do it but Toad (member on here) managed to contort himself into the right angle and get it in.

Dropping the sump and getting it back on wasn't too bad. Putting the gearbox back on was messy but OK - just heavy.
