rooftop tent racks v non rooftop tent racks.

Just wondering if there are any major differences between rooftop tent racks and non rooftop tent racks?
Knocking up some racks with a mate, mainly to be used as a sleeping platform, eventually with a roof top tent, and I was just wondering if there were any major differences?
Is it just a matter of bracing, or the size of steel used?

Most roof rack manufactures ( the ones we sell do ) test there racks to a maximum break limit. Hannibal's Tested at 900kg for example.

Be that for someone using it for carrying a boat, wood or roof tent...
