Very kool if they get it right.. but some issues to get over
- needs to be energy efficient considering wifi will run all the time.
- secure so that some kid walking up and down the street starts playing disco lights from his phone.
- not interfere with other wifi networks
- if master bulb is switched off at the switch all other bulbs will not respond to your app. If any light switch is off that bulb will not respond. Guests will always use the switches, as will those in the house who refuse to carry and use their phone to switch lights on and off when walking between rooms!
Not convinced.. would trial one in the bedroom tho.. get rid of the useless clapper!

- needs to be energy efficient considering wifi will run all the time. My Wifi runs all the time anyway - same as most peoples I would think, so just one more thing running - I think the much lower consumption of the LED's would easily offset the few milli amps that the wifi would use.
- secure so that some kid walking up and down the street starts playing disco lights from his phone. They have addressed this, it is as secure as your home wifi
- not interfere with other wifi networks Also addressed

I can see a lot of potential for these - depending on price, I'll be getting a swag of them...:)

sure we all have wifi that runs all the time, but if your going for energy efficient LED's then adding wifi to those will negate some of the benefits - all im saying. Price on these will be an issue, if very close to normal LED's then ok, but as it is kitting your house out with just straight LED (that produce enough light) costs a crap load when you have 12 downlights in just one room.

I'm the target market, I'm a technology freak, I have remote controlled everything and have created my own smartphone apps. I still think that there will be an issue with those that want to control with smartphone and those that will use the switch.. even I dont have my phone strapped to my side at all times when at home. I can seem myself getting annoyed when I want to show it off and some technotard has gone and used the light switches and killed my fun!
'Here mate look at this cool app, ah damn not working, one second let me flip all the light switches and figure out which ones are on and which are off.. almost there.. ha now look I can control the lights with my phone!'
