Hi all

I have read that the commodores used the RB30E Nissan engine at some stage.

This was a 3.0L straight six, electronic fuel injection, and some models were even turbo charged.

Are there any of these floating around in Australia still?

Hell yes. Lots. Northern 'burbs or out west of Sydeney they are seen most nights with uggboots on the parcel shelf and 3 odd size tyres, all bald, and some interesting paint schemes (read several different cars worth of panels...)

They are a great engine, in a rubbish vehicle.

Are you after a donor engine?

R31 skylines also share the same engine, GQ patrols run a carby version.

so plenty around.

blocks stamped A6 are non turbo and A8 is the turbo block.

Ha ha yes like the old Nissan Skyline GTS over here........

Yes, trying to see if they are cheap and available.

They were an option in the Patrol at one stage, but alas never over here.
We only ever got the L28 in the Patrol, and then later the 4.2 lump.

Yep that's how I understand it too.

We got very few R31 Skylines and all those engines have been snapped up.
The RB30E or the RB30ET would be fine. I can get a dodgy import for around $1000.

Ha ha a genuine, numbered, Sierra XR8? Good luck mate! Those are collectors items.

$10,000 to $30,000 depending on condition.......

I remember doing plugs in them, often people would cross thread them because they live under the curled over inlet manifold, instead of the exhaust side. Good engine from new, wouldn't touch one now. Dissys used to drop dead regularly too.
