OK, I'm on my 5 Range Rover, a 2000 P38 on LPG. Love it.

But what do I replace it with, an L322 TD6 or a Disco 3 TDV6.

The TD6 is the the obvious successor, but for the about the same money I can get a later model TDV6.

Pluses for the Disco are 6spd auto, access to barwork, snorkels, etc.
Minuses are farm implant tow bar, underbody spare wheel, looks funny, only a Disco!

Pluses for the Rangie are BMW diesel, lots of fruit, its a Range Rover!!
Minuses are probably higher kms, suss gearbox, bugger all accessories available until PaulP38 gets one then Hard Range will start making them.

All advice welcome.

I went from a MY99 P38 HSE to a MY05 L322 TD6 and couldn't be happier. Looked at D3 , briefly but decided to go for the real thing. Think it just suited my needs better. Wish there was a few more bits & pieces for it but will make do.

The TDv6 in the disco has a bit more poke than the TD6 in the rangie, so if you are fond of boot sinking in the P38 the disco might be better suited to your likes.

I ended up with a early TD6, and went for one with the least amount of "fruit" as possible after replacing most of it several times in the P38.....

Hi ytt105 and have had both, at the same time.

It depends on what you want from your ride.

If it’s destined for long road trips, the RR is by a country mile the more comfortable.

If you want it for off road and/or carrying lots of goodies in the cargo area, like a couple more adults, the D3 wins hands down.
