Anyone here work in the storage / removals industry.

Have had our 1 acre property on the market now for over 12 months - not one enquiry.

(I'm going to do a website on it to help it sell, its high density res1 , using the same density as the surrounding developments, if you were to bulldoze the shed and house you could fit 12 new houses on it, a developer could easily double his money, i don't get why it wont sell)

We had hoped to be out of here and into a new smaller place last Christmas.

Are going to bite the bullet and just leave the place empty and in the hands of the Realestate agent so we can get going on our 12 month trip.

So we are going to have to put some stuff which we want to keep into storage, being unknown timeframe I was wondering what the best option was (as in security, price, lack of double handling ext), Lockup storage , or container, or other option. (Even thought of buying a pantech) When we relocate, which will most likely be in SA or WA we will need the stuff moved to the new address)

The market like it is, it could be another 2 years before it sells,

The other problem is we have to find a new home for our two dogs, they cant travel with us, they were going to stay on a friends farm but that deal went sour. http://goingbush.com/images/dogs.jpg

No not at all, not going on a holiday, its a change of life, we are moving interstate after the trip and will be buying a place with no yard = no maintenance, The Dogs are outside dogs and not fair to them to keep them cooped up in a unit or locked up in a boarding kennel.

its in Healesville, It was all paddocks when we moved here with a view of the hills ( 30 yrs ago) now its just houses and neighbours all around, almost the last patch of green not yet developed.

I would look into buying a shipping container (or two?) and renting a (secure) hardstand to put it on. Should work out cheaper in the long run? Plus it will be a piece of cake to have the whole container loaded onto a truck or train and taken to your new address.

^^^ as Ben said, but make sure it is somewhere where it gets seen and looked over regulary....Shipping containers on job sites are great for storage, but many have been "opened" with an Oxy and cleaned out

simple answer to you block is you are asking to much for the current market and your required rate of sale, ie you want it gone quick in a bad market....lower your price

please do not take that the wrong way...it sucks selling stuff, even more so in a bad market. Just the way it is

Thanks for the tip, I'm leaning toward buying a container , was thinking of just keeping it on the block here but as it might become a construction site it will easily get mixed up / removed without anyone noticing. will make enquiries as to your suggestion.

Thanks, no ofense taken, I agree but the Realestate agent says to hold out for a resonable price, been valued 960k upwards.
I think taking less it a good idea to move it , keeping the cash in term deposit will soon see it recoup the loss. but then again using the funds to buy in a depressed market is also wise , I realise you cant have it both ways, but still not even one enquiry in 12 months ????

Wouldn't it be cheaper to fly home for a week if you sell, and supervise the removals then?
