How about:
S36 17' 15"
E139 42' 38"
eg. 139.710526
139 = degrees
.710526*60 = 42.6316 minutes = 42'
.6316 *60 = 37.8936 seconds = 38"

Multiply the digits to the right of the decimal point by 60 where the whole number is minutes, then multiply the result's digits to the right of its decimal point by 60 to give the seconds.
eg .287552 x 60 = 17.25312 minutes
.25312 x 60 = 15.1872 seconds
so 36 deg 17' 15.1872"

Edit: To slow!

Find "Settings" on the main menu, tap, and look for lat/long and just enter them. Works on my Tom Tom Via125.

I have my GPS set to Eastings and Northings. That way, the coords match my street directory and my topo maps. Much easier to find an accurate position on a map.
