Lock not unlocking

Gday Guys,

My tailgate doesn't open unless you have the key turned in the lock. The lock tab moves up and down with the central locking but then falls back down about 5mm. The tab is very loose when compared to the tight operation of the other doors, was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Sounds like the little spring has broken or fatigued. I have a similar problem with my driver's door and have obtained the spring to fix it via fleaBay, but yet to dismantle the mechanism and fit it. You'll find various threads o this using your search button.

Definately sounds like the internal spring in the lock. Much cheaper to replace the spring, rather than the whole lock mechanism. Have replaced both LF (what a pain of a job), and the right rear (quite easy). The problem is the spring breaks inside the lock! Access to the lock is the issue, not sure how easy it is to get the rear lock out?
