View Full Version : 4x4 tyres for a L322

Hi all

My old man has a TDV8 L322 yogue with 20in rims. He wants to come join me 4x4ing in my defender however at $700+ a tyre he doesnt want to wreck them on some of the tracks I have been on. Does anyone know what brand of tyre is available as an AT in a 20in rim that would run on the Rangie and still be good for daily driving. Any ideas or info would be a great help

20" off road tyres are hard to come by, and are usually huge in OD - think 35" +. He would be better off getting a set of 18" rims and fitting some all terrains to them, and keeping the 20's for the road.

He has the Brembo brakes and apparently the 18in rims wont fit.

Take him out 4WDing in the Defender, but let him drive all day.

Then when he gets home, he'll realise he can buy his own Defender for the price of 2 sets of tyres for his Rangie.

Two Defenders in the family give you economies of scale, for service items and import goodies.

exactly - go buy an old defender or D1, it will be cheaper that a set of tyres and wheels, not to mention destroying the on road experience of his rangie

G'day Jiffa,

He could go for the Cooper Zeon LTZ. These are available in the correct fitment for the Rangies 20" rims.

They've had reasonably good reviews in the popular press but I can't vouch for them as I don't know anyone who's owned/driven a set.

Not sure of the price either but any low profile tyre in an AT-ish pattern on a 20" rim isn't going to come cheap.

I like the suggestions of an alternate vehicle. For the cost a set (or two) of suitable tyres you'd definitely have paid for a toy truck.

Just my 5c worth.

I have Nitto Terra Grabber. Theyre AT'S. I drive thehighway everyday with them.

They sound quiet, wearing well so far, and have used them offroad lots.
Great offroad except mud, but no AT is any good in mud.

Got them from ozzytyres.com.au delivery was terrific.
265/50/20

Im pretty sure 55's would scrape on most steering wheel turn. 50's do a little at full lock.
