Hey guys, LRA are having issues with iPhone 5's and any other iPhones running the new iOS6 software. They either won't connect or will have issues during calls.
If you are having any of these issues I do not recommend taking them to a dealer until the issue is resolved, I will post again on a new thread as soon as a fix is available. Happy driving!

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 6 and have no problems - bluetooth still works fine.

That's good to hear, the issue may not occur for some people, but our dealer has had a lot of complaints in the last week.

Hmmm... I was running an iPhone 5 on a D4 yesterday and everything was fine.
IIRC - We had BT for the phone connection & the audio through the USB. The USB also meant we could charge the phone at the same time.

Any news? The MY12 system is very clunky and slow compared to MY11. They did a software update and the reversing guides disapeared from the reverse image.
They did a hard reset and it made no difference. Then suddenly upon starting a couple of days later they reappeared.
It would be nice to get the new MY13 ICM. :D as long as it fixes it.
The reversing camera takes a long time to come up and the reversing sensors don't work till it has so you can be reversing with no warning.

At risk of hijacking the thread.....
i've never been able to use an Iphone 4s via the USB plug in point in the console - it just mutes after a couple of minutes. The kid's 3s is fine. Bluetooth on the 4s works faultlessly (best I've ever had)
I know it was mentioned in another couple of posts, but I never found if there was a solution for it. Is there one??

I've just recently upgraded iOS6 on my iPhone 4....no issue at all in my D4, no issue at all.
Do you really work for LR, LRTech23, You've been found a little 'light' in the facts in other threads...Air Suspension, Turbos, Turbo Feed, Body on Vs Off, who can work on a LR product etc? Just saying...
However, my Merc has and the Volvo that I recently rented in the UK had full BT....as has a mate's $15K Fiesta (I think it is).....much better than friggin around with the plug....unless u want to recharge and then both the USB and power outlet (formally lighter) suffice.
Why haven't LR got that sorted?

Personally, I hate using bluetooth... The combination of the BT radio and the GSM radio will flatten the battery faster than a very fast thing!!
That's why I like the tethered option as that'll help charge the battery as well as being more secure.

Had some initial teething problems pairing with my iPhone 5, I tried both from the car to phone and phone to car, eventually phone to car worked but it took a few tries. The biggest issue I'm having since getting the iPhone 5 is that Bluetooth music streaming is pretty unstable and cuts out a lot of the time.

Yes I do work for land rover, I do wrk for a dealer, I am an apprentice, I guess different dealerships have different ways about going about things, I have seen people on this forum mention things dealers have done that ours would never do.
I received and email about this issue from my service manager to inform all the techs about this issue.
I can assure you that all the comments that I make are to the best of my knowledge and I would not say something on this forum unless I was sure it was correct information as I have been informed.

In saying that, I am always open to other opinions, as there are a lot of these guys forums who are very knowledgable, I came here to this forum to try and learn about the issues that you guys deal with and also try and help out where I can, you don't have to take what I say fact if you don't want to, but I am genuinely trying to help out.

I also have no problems with the new software d/loaded to my phone.
I have no issues with my 10MY D4.
I have connected it to numerous amounts of vehicles in the last week or so & have no issues.
These are also new vehicles & a couple of clients vehicles as well.

Thanks mate, are you saying that these could be retrofitted to older D4s?
If so, what would be the benefit of having one?

Don't worry mate, ppl on this forum are equally helpful and blunt (these are definitely your clients - enthusiastic but demanding!).
I don't think there's much actual trolling, but you do need a thick skin sometimes!

I don't think there's any trolling going on, I know you guys spend a lot of money on these cars, so I understand that you can get pretty mad when stuff goes wrong. Truth be told some of the things I have seen in my 2 years at Land Rover are purely disgusting, I really care about not only these cars, but particularly how the customer feels when they receive their vehicle, and the things I have been ordered to either do or not do on vehicles, has made me question the way dealers work, and how much they actually care about the customers. But yeah, whether you have thick skin or not I'd like to think that people on this board should have some sort of trust in what people say, otherwise you wouldn't have a forum for stuff like this.

I have a 4S that I upgraded to iOS6. Since then I need to cold boot the phone while connected to the lead from the D4 in order for it to recognise it. This was new after the iOS6 upgrade. There IS a problem. I have read various threads elsewhere it is a problem all over, not just with LR and also affects BT phone and streaming in many brands. Also I have lost the ability to control the phone from the screen in my FG XR6 ute, but it will still play.

Would only be compatable with MY12 and above. System changed on the MY12 it is now a Meridian system and the HDD is now part of the ICM rather than the screen. I am hoping they have the clunkyness sorted for the MY13 one.

There has been a problem wither later model iPhones and the D4 for years - but some people don't recognise it.
Try this - load some music or a podcast on your iPhone, connect the iPhone to the D4 and try to play music via the USB (not bluetooth). It will play - but not for long. In my experience it plays for between 2 minutes and 15 minutes and then simply mutes. The only way to get it to play further is to disconnect the phone, hard reset the phone, reconnect and start playing.... (then repeat after another 2-15 minutes).
The only work around to this is to steam music by bluetooth. While this will continue to play there are a number of disadvantages (such as battery drain, less control over what is played etc).

re Swordfish
I'll be devo'ed if I have trouble with my iPone connectivity as having a nice and easy iPod/iPhone control from the car was a major factor in me deciding to move from Defender to D4 in December. (that's looks lame when you type it out, but it's true:angel:)
I'm no geek but I wonder if the music connection on the iPhone is somehow interefered with by the phone periodically talking to the network. May there be an app operating in the background/ Apart from returning the car to the dealer, I'd do some experimenting with turning off data roaming, pull notifications etc.

Interesting comments.
For what it's worth,
I have a 2 week old New D4, iPhone 5 and it has worked seamlessly in every regard music, Bluetooth and direct connection.
In fact it is light years ahead of how it all works in the other car, a 12 month old Beemer.
Nothing but praise for the D4 but for the very slow nav system....

Hi,
Can you play music via Bluetooth in a D4?
I've always thought that it was only possible through the cable connection.
Never tried USB other than to charge.
I know BT chews power but my Merc has BT, Cable and USB connectivity...except the Merc charges the phone through the cable.
So, long trips I hardwire the phone in, short trips I just have the phone in my pocket or wherever...battery usage is OK then.
Another interesting thing about the Merc, if you buy the phone cradle, it uses the car anntenna.
I don't understand rodjam's comment about the D4 Satnav being slow...it ****s all over the new Mercs and Volvos. Input wise that is.
Cheers,
Kev.

Yes, you can play audio via BT including streaming Internet radio. Load a USB stick with a base load of songs and leave it in the USB port. Not sure what the max size it supports. I think I have 16gb in there with a couple of hundred mp3's.

Apple is getting more and more like Microsoft every day, with each new release of operating software you lose stuff you liked and it is unstable and glitchy until they have released the next couple of update versions. I truly regretted upgrading to the 5.0 system on my iPad until there had been a couple of updates, i still miss some stuff I used to be able to do, but at least it doesn't crash all the time anymore.
I work for a large global company with a big IT department and they have advised/ordered us not to upgrade to the 6.0 for phones and iPads yet.

Our IT Department has done the same.
They advise that the upgrade is causing major problems with Outlook.
Apparently when someone with the upgrade accepts a meeting invite it deletes the meeting for everyone.

Hi Mate,
OK, how do you get the BT to work?
I've got an iPhone 4 which works fine as a phone BT. Never tried plugging it in Via USB (other than extra charging point). Plays music through the non-charging cable but cannot get it to play music BT.
What procedure do I need to follow?
Is it MY dependant?...mine's a 2009 build, I think they refer to that as MY10.
Cheers,
Kev.
