View Full Version : How do I grease seat runners - 85 County

Hi,

The seats are very difficult to slide and it is because the runners are based on ball bearings that are in an enclosed "tube" which cannot be disassemled.
The "tube" is formed by the seat mounting sliding above the base mounting.

Is there a trick to either greasing these things, or pulling them apart?

I assume you're taking them out, so how about a flush out with petrol then put graphite powder down the guts of them?!?!

I think that would work though I'm sure someone knows better than me (or thinks they do lol), of course there are probably many options and I could be way off target!!!

I bought new seats :D, one was cracked at the base  and the other was not far off.

Excellent suggestion. I actually poured oil in and then stuffed grease in as best I could. Now they run a lot better, but I bet the oil/grease will slowly leak out onto the battery box cover. Never mind, at least they are adjustable now.

Only thing with that is it will be a magnet for dust!!!

Thats why i was suggesting dry lube, or even no lube at all could be best, not like they move too often hey.
