Quick question for anyone that's looked into this:
Realise it's been discussed before - but from what I saw the rules changed last year in Victoria. Are 255/85 r16 now roadworthy in Victoria on a PUMA defender?

Does't a RWC only cover the condition/safety of the vehicle??
I've had many RWc with 36 and 37 simexs and swamper a??
Although that's on tdi's
I would of thought the increase from standard 235/85/16
To 255/85/16 is well within allowable standards of height and
Width??
Plenty of mates with patrols, cruisers, deefers with tyres around
36 inch are fully insured through 4wdVIC legally including
Engineered mods(usually not needed for tyres)

The new Vic RWC laws require the tester to take photos of the tyres , speedo, Vin, engine nr & various other bits. Not so easy now to get a dodgy RWC, dont think you could get one with swampers now.
heres that thread

Yes they are legal, not allowed to be more than 50mm greater diameter than OEM.
Allowed total lift of 75mm i.e. 50mm lift + 1/2 50 mm Tyres = 75mm.
Proviso is must be designed/recognized lift.

So what could be a bullet proof way to prove this to cops, insurance and so on?
Getting a print of VIC roads and have it in the car?
I want to keep my 110 hassle free and citiy friendly....
Would be much easier on a 90 as they have different tyre size for a start.

Yes, still busy with the welding. Pays the bills as we say,lol
Regarding the 110-90 question. I always thought that 110's have 235 and 90's have 265 as standard tyre size on the compliance plate.

I have no idea. But wouldnt it also depend on the aspect ratio (65/75/85 etc).....
back when the first coil sprung LR's came out, the 110's were on 750 16 and I believe the 90's on 650 16......
