Drivers door locked!

The drivers door on my D3 will not unlock. If you try to open it manually from inside it still will not unlock. The only way to unlock it is to hold the door handle open from inside and press the lock/unlock buttons on the centre console , then open the door.
This is very annoying - am I heading for another big bill from LR to get this fixed?
Any comments / suggestions appreciated!

Probably a failed door actuator. But first check the connections between body and door.

Thanx caverD3 - is an actuator a LR only part or can a competent person replace it?

Inside door, not sure how complex to change.
