Have just installed MudMaps app. on an Ipad I received a few weeks ago as a gift. Finally moving map capability...yeahhhh. I have placed it in a hard "OtterBox" for general protection. Has anyone installed such a unit? Just starting to look at what is a round re: brackets...or if I have to fabricate something & also best position in or around the dash.

Miker.

i have an Ipad with otterbox too and I'm looking at buying a ram mouht with two mounts simply because I'm going to use it in two cars.

I'm looking at getting the no drill seat bolt mount and also the twist lock suction cup mount.

I have had my iPad in for about 3 months now.

I used a RAM universal mount as I use a Griffin military spec case and it wouldn't fit it stock iPad mount. The rest of the kit is RAM's flexi pole and seat base foot.

I knocked up a quick bracket to minimise vibration when off road.

iPad uses HEMA and MudMaps and works a treat.

Hey Zook,

It uses GPS and does not rely on the 3G network. If you buy an iPad you have to buy the 3G varient as it is the only type that has the GPS chip. The Wi-Fi version is not GPS enabled.

Both HEMA and MudMaps are available from the Apple Apps Store and do all the cever things good Off Road navigators do, (waypoints, flags, distance and 99% of tracks).

Once purchased you get all the up dates for free and new maps when released.

I prefer the HEMA app, but the new MudMaps version just released is pretty good.

Go to the app's store and check them out.
