The hot/cold, demist levers ( the ones on the right side of the dash next to the drivers door hinge on my 1995 110) were stuck on full hot demist when I bought It 6 months ago. So I Finally unscrewed the plastic cover for a look to find the notches in the slide bar had worn down. There is a spring that locks the slide at each end so first I lubricated that, no luck... Grrrrrr ... out with a tiny file to round off the worn notches and an hour later levers work like new. I'm content now that everything on my defender work the way it should, and I deserve A drink. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

i have tinkered with all those levers.
The hot cold still operates as designed
The fan speed is now my flap opening linkage (search in projects for heater flap )and then fan on high high speed (i removed the resistor setup much more air now)
The demist vs knee air lever was a joke. Never used the knee option so have made this lever as a hand throttle. Almost my favourite mod ever. Simple and works a dream for winching or running the air comp or just charging batt.

Before i tinkered all three were pretty rusty and hard to move.

Mate that's one of the best ideas I've heard for ages.

I was wondering how to set up a hand throttle when I convert to Isuzu 3.1 TD.

easy as. Used an old MIG liner which clamped into the lever clamp.
Ran a length of 1.0mm 49 strand SS wire through it.
Attached MIG liner to throttle cable just before adjuster screw, 49 strand out the end and a crimped loop piggy backed through the cleavis pin on the pump.

49 Is soft enough not exert any push on the IP spring return and resistance in the lever balance perfectly.
