Ok after the Mrs badgering me for ages that she wants to increase the comfort stakes whilst camping, I have finally succumbed and bought an Outback 'Birdsville' off road camper. We had looked at heaps and made an effort to get to the Leisurefest and decided we liked the Outback campers the best. We saw one in Lethbridge outside of Geelong that had all the features we were after, went for a drive and picked it up last night. I was heading out camping this weekend anyway so I'll post some photos up.
Cheers

Wasn't expensive ($5800) and had all the features we were after
Extra bedroom
59 ltr water tank
Fully enclosed awning
240 volt adaptor
Slide out kitchen ( we are upgrading this so not for long)
Brakes
Heaps of storage ( with 2 kids you end up taking the whole house with you)
Off road suspension and chassis
And it's Australian made
We looked at some of the imported jobs and you can see and feel the difference so decided on a quality secondhand one
The guy I bought it off had owned it from new and was pedantic about its care and it showed we saw heaps that were in terrible condition, the great thing is the manufacturer is only down the road so if we do need anything it's not too far away.
We plan on doing a lot more of this country and this will certainly make it easier and quicker without loading the car up and making the kids contort into positions that the human body just can't do.
More importantly the Mrs has no excuse to say no to a trip out now so more 4wding:D
So when is the next trip? Lol
Cheers

I live in Lethbridge. If I had seen that for sale .... You would not own it.I would!
I worked for Southern RV Motor homes and campers in Geelong and I have never seen a better camper . Well done enjoy it , they are better if used frequently and far away in the deepest bush you can find.

Sorry Alien I can't make that one but certainly up for others, took it for a test run with some good 4wding this weekend and it just lapped it up, real quick to set up which is great
