It seems thing can get out of hand. I wonder if anyone can assist with a bit of experiance here.
So
In the last few months of D3 ownership, (its a 2005,D3 HSE with sound, sat nav, voice control, Elect seats, sunroof, Dual Zone Aircon, Towbar - I only say this as the wiring looms in both areas of investigation reflect extra wiring by the looks)

So - The central Locking has at random times simply not let me in .. sometimes once, then for a day then OK for a few weeks and then the past week it has not worked at all.

So during the week I read everything I could find on the matter in this forum and others linked .. and as a result set off to seek the 'splice' in the sill that is reported to often be the cause of these kind of symptoms.

I started off getting into the passenger side according to the instructions I found at
http://www.landroversonly.com/forums/f41/keyless-entry-not-working-help-28115/index3.htm
but I could not find the 'two wires into one splice' for the life of me .. the 'two red' to 'two red' splices, I found, but there were simply no other splices in the section of loom described in this thread. The Factory tape was wrapped around which lead me to believe that this area had not yet seen any expeditions into this area to seek this prior to now.

Giving Up I replaced everything and reconnected the battery and found the central locking was not working - no big surprise !
but then the thought occured to me that it was a dot com and the passenger side described in the thread (above) may have been the US of A passenger side ..

so I then get into the same process for the driver side sill.
After disconnecting the Battery again I found three (taped separately)sections of loom in the Right hand sill section.

Scrutiny in front of the seat on all three sections of loom did not reveal any apparant 'Spliced wires' going from 'two into one of ANY colour in any loom.

Again I replaced all the panelling and reconnected the Battery .

nothing found - nothing changed .. but something obviously effected as the CENTRAL LOCKING NOW WORKS.

As I have not done anything apart from 'Disturb' the wiring, I doubt anything is fixed permanently However .. to my dismay

I have NO ELECTRONIC HANDBRAKE and a Flashing warning light (red) and an Orange P permanently on on the Dash display. Damn.

TWO issues for anyone who can assist please

1.) can anyone give me really spcific information on where to find the splice referred to in a number of posts .. the looms on both sides seem to have 'continuous strands of wire in plentiful supply with nothing out of the ordinary and no apparent joins of any kind apart from two Red to Red wire splices on the left hand side of the Vehicle .. Spliced with Blue tape covering and about two inches apart. (could these be the culprit causing the handbrake to fail ???)

nothing apparent on the Drivers side (right) .

2.) what have I done to 'brake' the Electronic Hand Brake ... I have checked the fuse as described in the interior glove box, a 5 amp fuse in section 41 of the box and its fine. I have reviewed the handbrake connection in the console and it seems secure.
The handbrake is not 'on' when in neutral.

I would appreciate any advice and any proceses anyone may suggest.

Thanks

Steve, I have experienced the central locking issue and cured it.
What I found was that the drain for the sunroof was blocked and the water from the sunroof was flooding into the wiring loom on the passenger side sill where the splice is located.
I flushed out the sunroof drain so that it no longer floods and then I located the splice, reterminated it and sealed it. Since then I have had no more issues.
MY problem first occured when I went away and the car was left outside in the rain for a few days (it is normally garaged at night and often under cover during the day). The remote would not work and then started working intermittently a week or so later and returned completely 2 weeks later (the water must have dried out). I didn't investigate then as I had no time.
A couple of months later I went away again and it rained again, result no central locking. This time I went looking for the splice and found that the passenger side was wet.

One thing I did before I pulled out the loom was check the voltage going to the central locking module. It is located in the roof near the rear aircon controls. I determined that it wasn't getting 12v ( there was a voltage but it was low). I then checked at the fuse box with the fuse removed and could see 12v there so I knew the problem was between the fuse box and the control module.

As for your park brake, sorry I haven't had any issues there so can't assist other than to attach the wiring for it.

Your link did not work so I couldn't determine if you were looking in right place for the splice. I found this (http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic54235.html) link helpful. The splice is buried in amongst a large loom and you need to open the loom to find it.

I will use these instructions today to try again to find and rectify the central locking splice.
much appreciated.

the vehicle did not get exposed to water although I will check out the drain tubes ASAP also.

The HANDBrake was NOT a problem at all until I started messing with the wiring, so its my belief that I have loosened a connection along the way

can anyone assist as to what colour wiring I should be looking for and which side does it come into the console from ??

any clues would be much appreciated. I'll get to it today and hopefully sort it or both of the issues out permanently.

Again many thanks for your help Ge dub.

Steve, The diagram I attached should give the wiring details you require.

Yes I printed out the diagrams but I'm a newb at this stuff ... I can see in both cases (locking and Brake) the 'general area I'm after and a big thanks for the diagrams ... but I'm still at a loss to actually follow them throught the vehicle ...

I will do a recky today and then get up to British Offroad later in the week if I can't get any joy.

the sills did not seem to have any moisture but its been pretty dry for a while now.

Again thanks GeeDub I really appreciate you taking the time to help with this.
