Have been working on my truck at a friends shed this past few weeks, got there a few mornings ago to find my defender still sitting on the hi-lift, and the following items missing:

- Two Mickey Thompson tyres (265/75/r16) and sunrasia rims
- Two xtremesport front spotlights
- Recovery Gear - tree protector, snatch strap, tow strap, winch
extension strap, pulley, various shackles and pins.
- Deep Cycle Battery - red in colour, 82 aH
- set of Maxxtrax
- Projecta battery charger
- Projecta 1000W inverter
- Sony Vaio laptop
- GME 3220 UHF radio

On the plus side, if you can call it that, it looks like the little bastards were disturbed in the process, and didn't manage to get everything, but they almost melted my main battery when they cut the winch cable trying to get it out, and fried the alternator and immobiliser in the process, and they also cracked my fuel tank when they let the landy slip off the jack.

I know it's a long shot, but if you happen to see anything like what's in that list pop up for sale, a heads up would be appreciated.

Mike, what part of the world you in.

It makes you furious when crap like this happens. I feel for you. Trust in karma.

as an idea, could also leave it for a trap and set up one of those infra red tree camera things. Under $250 from ebay. Greed ad stupidity often sees the little turds back for more.

Mike, it's time you updated your profile to show your location. From the IE, you are in Ireland?

You're right - my apologies. The IE does indeed stand for Ireland, though I'm travelling around Australia at the moment. The theft in question occurred in South Australia, about 100km north of Adelaide.

My brother lives up that way. I'll pass this on.

I'd hoped for that, as did the police officer that eventually called round. Left the Defender as it was, camped out for a few nights hoping that the little ****s would return, but no joy. The house in question is pretty far out in the countryside, so I was probably a bit more trusting with leaving the truck out than usual, but the police did say that they were having problems with undesirables coming out from the city and targeting houses in the area. Seemed pretty specific though, 4WD equipment - both my own, and more belonging to the owners of the house.

Bloody thieving scumbags, its becoming more common that the little bstards are targeting houses that are remote or set back from the road where they can raid without being disturbed.

Yeah, believe me, if I could, I would. Have replaced the spare wheels for now, as can't do much without them, and doubt I'll be seeing the rest of my gear again. But who knows....
