That's a good buy, well done.

I might be wrong, but I think you will still need to buy and install the LR roof rails before you can fit that though. That's gonna be another few hundred bucks:(

DoctorJ posted some nice instructions here for fitting them yourself with pictures, from memory I think he also posted the cost of them.

Aha...do you have a link for doctor J s post as I would love to have a look.
The guy who sold me the rack said he took it all off and is sending me the fittings...so I hope he has put in the rails
...fingers crossed

The roof rails are a seperate part!
They are not part of the expedition roof rack, so dont be suprised if he does not send them to you.

Put the following into google:

discovery 4 "full length roof rail" kit site:ebay.co.uk

You'll be able see to pics and get an idea on price. Not sure what it would cost to get them fitted - there are some youtube vids that show how to do it yourself if you are up to it.

You don't need the full length one's as the kit was made for them to be fitted to short versions. There are brackets that bolt to the front lower section.
BUT..
They can be made to fit the full length ones if you require. Eg you remove rack & want to use the full length rails for carry a long kayak or something like that.

Cheers

Have a look at http://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-tutorials/125155-roof-rack-build.html

He used my D3 rails and they worked on his D4. Might be of use.

Yes, go to Disco3.co.uk - I recall there is a company there in the UK that sells the parts separately so just search that forum. I think they are on ebay uk too.

Cheers mate but it all worked out in the end52602 a few dents and what not but never worry52603 gonna have to take the wind deflector and top part off as it doesn't fit in the multi story car park

Are you sure it doesn't fit in the car park like that. I find that if I select access height and drive slowly I can fit in most car parks with the expedition rack with deflector on. I even park it in my garage like that. Just lock it in access mode so that it stays like that for the drive out as well. Worked so far for me.
