Hi there, I've currently got a 200tdi and am looking at upgrading to a Puma.
Sleeping in the back of the 200tai is relatively easy, as the entire rear seat just lifts entirely out of the car- no tools necessary. I can then put a mattress in the back, with some support to make it level.
The seat design in the puma doesn't make this so easy- with the seats folded fully forwards (second row seats- I'm only interested in the five seater!) there isn't really enough leg room for a mattress.
Does anyone sleep in the back of their puma? Id love some tips on how you do it...pictures are worth a thousand words!
Thanks,
Clark

By measuring my Puma there is over 6ft from the rear of the front seats to the tailgate. Fold the rear seats forward and make up a frame that sits in the rear over the top of these seats, should give you room for storage underneath, and a double size matress on top. If you make a modular frame then it should come out with relative ease for when you want all 5 seats. Havent done this yet but its on the list for those quick one or 2 night outings.:)

I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but it will have to wait a little while until my youngest child gets his license and by then I might have updated to a 2013 or 2014 Puma :)
My thoughts are to remove the rear seats & build a light weight frame with a double mattress just below window height with drawers & stowage area underneath and to integrate some other camping equipment. Maybe some access hatches from the side of the vehicle if this can be done without compromising strength. A foxwing awning would finish it off. Mattress to be removed when taking a tent. Preserving off road capability is critical and may prevent some of these ideas from happening or may result in a design that can be easily removed from the car.

I sleep in the back of my Puma regularly (including Friday night just gone).

I remove the back seats. Takes a fair bit of effort, due to the large number of bolts and screws. Plus they are heavy. I install a plywood frame which uses the same bolts as the seats.

Underneath at the back I have an aluminium frame and plywood DIY draw system with plastic boxes from bunnings, covered with industrial carpet also from bunnings.

I use an inner spring single bed mattress. Very comfortable.

If two of us go away I take a tent.
