Hey Aulroians,
I have a bad vibration :( at around 60-65 kph and have been told its my front prop shaft after the 110 had been lifted.:cool:
So my question goes out to people that have bought a front Dc prop shaft from Tom Woods.
Did you need a Disco flange to fit the shaft to your Defender?
Did you buy in Oz or direct from Tom Woods?
Did you buy a shaft with 1 or 2 DC joints?
I have a 2005 110. With 130 front springs.

I had Peril lifted 40mm by Graeme Coopers at St Peters in Sydney and they recommended (and fitted) a Disco 2 double cardon prop shaft in place of the original prop shaft.  It required some minor modification to fit but I have never had any vibration at all.
Heavier front springs were fitted at the time and I think they said they were 130 front springs but I'm not sure now.
You could phone Coopers - they're very helpful guys and they'd probably advise you.

If you order direct from Tom Woods you can use your normal t/case output shaft and just specify the PCD of the stock flange and length between centres, and just in case I'd advise the PCD and dimensions of the diff pinion flange too so it bolts straight in.
Measuring info is on their site, or just ring and talk to them. (make sure you check the time difference before ringing :D)
No need to obtain a D2 output flange.

Had a D2 double cardon front prop shaft and D2 flange fitted to my 110 when I had it fited 2'.... its been fine. Went the D2 route as i thought the easist and less messy. I think the prop shaft needed some work from standard but its been great.

That's what I did with mine - used the standard flange (mines an old LT95 4 speed but same PCD flange).
I exchanged a couple of emails with Tom about the shaft before I ordered mine. He suggested the only reason to go with the D2 flange is from a compatibility perspective ie you could possibly replace the shaft with a D2 one if you were desperate rather than needing a replacement custom shaft.
Looking at the photos someone posted here recently showing how the TW shaft has LOTS more angular travel than a D2 shaft - the D2 one might not fit without binding anyway, in which case its a non-issue.
Mine is custom length anyway so D2 shaft wasn't an option for me.

Interestingly the Tdi length is longer than the TD5 too, although everyone just bolts in the DII shaft and get away with it.
Wayne/Lowranger suggested the stock flange setup to me as that's what he uses on his 200Tdi 110 and it makes sense. If ever there's a problem you could always use the original shaft as a stopgap and it saves the expense/time of buying/acquiring a DII output flange for the new shaft.
