View Full Version : Whistle, whizz... and silence

Going up to Central Coast to have a look and my (potentially) new toy (D2 03MY) and my poor old Flandie started to whistle especially on acceleration, then whizzing quite loudly but driving OK noise seemed coming from somewhere in the front but can't be certain ... and then it stopped whistling and whizzing. Silence like normal.

But acceleration now is akin to the old Turtle the SII oiler. Had a quick look for anything obvious but didn't see anything. Thinking blown turbo-intercooler hose? Turbo stuffed? Doesn't seem to smoke but on the F3 I managed to get up the hills in 4th in the slow lane :(

Any ideas before I dive in?

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, much appreciated ...

Anyway... top intercooler - manifold hose blew apart. Big hole. Easy fix.

get silicone ones as the normal rubber ones don't last. Also check the crankcase breather as the turbo will leak more oil into the intake and damage the hoses quicker.
