Well after a month off the road i have finaly found a day in which to attempt to replace the entire diff and axle assembly (the diff ate itself and blew holes in the cover so upgrading to 24 spline also while im at it) at the rear of my 91 3 door. Sunday is never a day of rest with a disco that gets used alot off road.

I was wondering if many people have done this and is there any tricks to make it easier or problems that you had in the process or any tools i wouldnt have thought of needing.

I cant wait to get the old girl back on the road, Its killing me driving the work van everywhere.

Thanks

Only comment I can make is use a pair of brake pliers to safey block off the line so you don't lose all of the brake fluid

I was gonna just replace the brake fluid anyway. Seemed like a good excuse to do it.

Good tip but unless you've recently bled or flushed the fluid I prefer to take the opportunity to let it go and and put in new fluid.

If you have trouble splitting the ball joint from the diff just remove the front bolts from the A arm and sort out the ball joint once it's all out in the open.

Yeah Steve I rekon that will be the plan. Might as well do it whilst I'm stuffing around under there. Cheers
