Just after recommendations for someone to do a pre-purchase inspection on a Defender in Melbourne outer-suburbs (NEast) area? I am an interstate buyer.

I was thinking of just going with the RACV since the vehicle still has a years warranty left, but maybe there is a Land Rover specialist around?

Thanks, Sam

Try RITTER Land Rover & Range Rover Service, Parts, Sales, Wrecking (http://www.ritter.com.au) or AMV Automotive Services – Landrover Parts, Online Store, Wrecking, Melbourne (http://www.amv.com.au) they are both LR specialists in the Eastern Suburbs. I have never used either as my D90 is under a corporate plan and I have to use the dealer, but both are mentioned in this forum.

As suggested, Fred Smith is a good contact. He'll give you a no nonsense appraisal.

I took my brand new puma to him to get some bits fitted andhe asked why I purchased that POS for, the "doova" is 3 thou smallerthan in the 85 County, the left window winder is made of a alloy with too muchzinc in it and they use the wrong air in the tyres, in the model before thisthey had naked 18 year old nymphs from Sweden blowing up silk balloons and theyused that. This model they just had some old scrubbers from outside Liverpoolstation do it.

He has looked afterthree of my landrovers.... wonder why I keep going back really....

( dont mention the $1,000 torch.... every time he took itout to look at something under the car it cost me a $1000)

Yeah, another mention for Fred.
He's an 'interesting' character but he knows his stuff!

Interesting indeed. He might know his Land Rovers but it would seem people skills are not his forte.

I think that some might agree, others would say that maybe those people that get upset don't matter. I don't think he is short of clients.
