View Full Version : exhaust rubbing against green oval transmission plate

Over the past couple of weeks I noticed a rattle under the car and it sounded like the exhaust is banging against something so went and had a look and realized that the exhaust is rubbing against my GEO transmission bash plate.

Has someone else had this problem and what did you do to solve it?

Not sure whether my exhaust has dropped but it looks like it had contact from the beginning.

Thought about putting some of the fire retardant material which is wrapped around the turbo hose between plate and exhaust but not sure where to get this.

thanks

steve

If you look at the transmission guard you will see it has an aluminium heat shield. First check that this is in place and maybe push it down. Check the exhaust hanger straps are ok. If still ruubbing put a spacer betwen the plate and the connector points.

Must read post properly, not OEM plate.

Just adjust it withs a lump of wood and a hammer is what I would have said. :D

may still need the hammer :-), it's better now but still a slight rattle as exhaust touches rim of the hole.

I try some washers today, otherwise piece of wood and hammer
