arrived in the post today from my sister.

plans are to build my car 1983 classic with all my accessories {& the ones I want} thinking about making a small diorama for it to live in

so this will involve changing the doors to quarter vents etc. luckily its not a soft dash so matches mine.

catch wait to get on this on... which might push it up the order, i have around 50 unbuilt kits with about 7 on the go. this is my first LR though...

this is what I plan to reproduce as a small diorama, but do the car up as I want it not how it sits now.

finished converting and added primer, need to sand a bit more around the side moldings

to convert the the newer RRC to my one 1983 vintage.
removed sunroof and fuel filler lid.
removed side body moldings and lower 'side skirts'
added fuel filler
moved the side blinkers

I also removed the front lower bumper/skirt for the bullbar.
the hole near the bonnet is for the vent on my 1:1, I've added the snorkel hole also

the kit is Aoshima. I got it from a Japanese hobby shop, there is a couple of varieties (at least box art - not sure about model). Italeri & Esci do a 2 door RRC also

Sweet! I notice the modified filler area, nice work! Did you not bother to do the exposed hinges because it would be too fiddly?

I have several of these Aoshima kits, each is different. One even has a resin LHD dash which is pretty cool but the box art is the main variation in my experience. All kits are the same aside from some being molded in colour instead of white and having various accessory trees included. For example, my latest acquired kit is molded in metallic blue with 2-piece aftermarket wheels instead of the tri-spokes, a slightly different decal sheet which includes decals for the Recaro 'Jetsetter' bucket seats and it also has a tree of different antennas. It also has the factory Land Rover wrap-around bullbar, which some kits did not have.

It's a pretty typical thing for Aoshima and Fujimi kits to have numerous variations of the same kit. I'm going to buy one of the Italeri ones soon to restart my ute project with and am on the hunt for an Esci one to build as YVB151H which is (as far as I know) the first actual production Range Rover sold to the public.

Just a tip if you need to strip chrome off parts, put them in a bit of bleach, the chrome starts to literally vanish straight away. Once it is stripped the part will look like it is resin as the primer for the chrome plating will still be there, but it scrapes off really easily.

Good eye, no I just over looked it, you have great attention to detail.

Not entirely happy with the finish
power plus automotive paint can cause crazing on plastic models even with primer so I going to give it another coat. I've successfully used it on 3 other models so I'm confident I can get it to work.

I'll add the hinges then.

re Aoshima: I too thought that but couldn't confirm with the RR kits, same with plenty of there others.

Those projects you got on the go, sound good, through up some pics when you get into them, shouldn't have much trouble getting the Italerli, esci one might be a bit hard only seen 2 of them for sale.

I've used brake fluid to strip paint off plastic and it works a treat.
