tomorrow i will hopefully attempted to fit the new drop down tail gate that i got for my defender style side ute. to do so i need to fit the top bracket things.

this will require drilling and re riveting. my first question is what size and style rivets do i use and what size drill bit do i use to drill them out? and are there any tricks or don't do type thing i need to know?

this is the tail gate that i am going to be using i will attempt to make bolt on lower hinge brackets out of angle iron. any info on them would be good because i have no idea if this will work most of the tail gates i have seen have welded on lower brackets.

see the holes in the bracket.

the drill bit that only just fits through them is the one to use, the drill will self center in the rivit and should not touch the panel work if you go in dead square.

often the head will drill off and then the body will push back into the panel...

the size rivet to use is the one that best fits in the hole and has about 1mm of shank protrusion through the hole, longer is better than shorter.
