I have one, its been on about 2 years now and very happy with it. Forget fitting it on your own you need at least one other but with two people its pretty easy.
From memory I left everything pretty loose, fitted it and then tightened it all up.
I went to the local bolt shop and bought the tie down loops for 1/10th the price they were asking.

I have had one for 12/18 months and very happy with it.
I fitted mine myself, I assembled it on the ground than did a big bench press and slid it on from the back of the back of the car.....it the full length jobbie
Yep get all you 8mm fitting from bunnings or nut and bolt shops

Is the full length 2400mm ? And what is the weight ?
I am in the market for new roof rack. I want to move to a roof top tent and my ARB rack, combined with the weight of tent will be to much for my likings.
The ARB rack is 45kg made of steel with the mesh in the bottom, the BlackWidow alloy is just 21kg.
Cheers

I believe that the full length is 21kg there about, I was the same with the ARB one. Too heavy......

Il be bending up a rack in Ally for the Defender over Christmas, I’m yet to draw it up as I have other projects on the go , but if anyone has any ideas of must have's on a rack , please throw them up.

I have a full length one, assembled it all but got the neighbour to help lift it on (to avoid the risk of paint scratches). Very straightforward, works well, like the low profile.

I designed a rack, but lacked the skill to build it. Here are some pics :
The rack is 1 sheet of alloy amplimesh, thus no cutting required.
A frame of tubular allow allows all round non abrasive tie down points and offers a quiet profile in wind.
No sides mean I can load a wide load or roof top tent and spread the weight across the whole base. It also means the car can stay as low as possible (for a lifted Defender).
Wide legs distributed the weight, the abscence of a rail under the legs allows the roof to flex without splitting in the gutters (I read this was an issue in LWB Land Rovers). These legs support the bar around it's width and are easy to bend up from flat section alloy.
An annex rail extends along each side.
The amplimesh allows for infinite and instant tie down points.
The front shelf for lights and aerials was made narrow only because I had a pre existing mount for a remote search light on the roof.
Total Weight, about 21kg + bolts
Feel free to copy the design or aspects of it.

I have the full length front runner, expedition one. it is 2.8m long and weighs in at 45kg according to the spec, it is only the half expedition so it is flat at the back for the RTT.
Expedition LR Defender 2.8E - Dolium Pty Ltd (http://www.dolium.com.au/Retail_Catalogue/RMRLDEF-28E_item.html'ref_cat_id=Alloy_WindCheetah)
Putting it on was a mission, I winched it to the top of the underside of my my car port and drove in under it then lowered it on, only to find out that my car port was lower at one end and I could not reverse out, ( bad planning) I had to unbolt the roof of my car port at one end and jack it up to get the car out. I have to take the rack off again today actually as the deefer goes in to get some corrosion fixed on the roof next to the alpine windows tomorrow. I will be jacking the car port up again today but will try and keep the new height to make it easier to take on and off.
I think me being 5'7" tall does not help and you would need 2 people over 6' to put it on successfully I think..

i got the 2.2m front runner ( ex Mulgo ) on my 110 Puma...just long enough to have an OZtent RV4 on there. i decided on this shorter length instead of 2.8 because the front roof corners on the 110 are a weak point.. mine had lifted even without a rack on it... i am using the shorter legs ( #6) for the rack to keep overall height down, so i am still able to get into 2.1m height carparks

I probably should have got the none expedition one, but I can still get into 2.3m carparks, and through the maccas drive in :-)

They are easy to fit, you just need:~
1. A tree of suitable height and strength.
2. Hand winch, snatch block and some harness loopy things.
3. Cubby house to winch from (out of shot rhs).
4. Child to ride on rack to ensure it's even. Though we had an incident (leg fell through gap) which now means no further volunteers.

I don't have any trees I can use, but same principle, drive in, fit the straps, unbolt, tighten the straps and drive out.
This is ok to get it on and off once it is already on, to get it off the ground the first time I had to use ropes, no height for a flash pulley system :p
Excuse the mess, I am renovating!!
