I am wanting to put our DVD movies on to a NAS and a portable HDD.
Can I have a recommendation for an app or software that will do this. I've found plenty of options.
I'm running Mac ML OS.
Thanks

Hi. I run 'Mac the Ripper'. Very happy and never had a problem. I then drag it into 'Roxio Crunch' and its automatically added to iTunes.
Works a treat

"Handbrake" is the one I use, does all you will need in one go.

WonderShare Video Converter Ultimate, can put it into any format you like, even small enough to go on a phone. Also let's you download YouTube videos and the like.
Cheers,

Thanks all for the replies. The four apps mentioned all look pretty good. But how do the developers make the app av for free. What's the catch, how are they making money?
Does wonder share have a patch that allows me to copy a bought DVD movie? It seems to indicate it won't work on encrypted DVDs.

I have used it to get a bought DVD into a format to run on an android tablet so it must be able to. Have not come across one it couldn't read but that may be because I didn't try an encrypted one :).

Not everything is about making money :)
The Mac Dev community has always been very much Open Source.
They do it for the challenge or to help the community - and often have other software they do sell...
Mac the Ripper or Handbrake.... for sure...
Both get a hiding at my place - Handbrake especially turning files into other formats ;)
