Bike carrier / Spare wheel mounted

G'day all,
There's been some discussion about bike racks which attach to the spare wheel so the rear door can be opened from inside without having to move the bike rack out of the way first, such as is the case with tow bar mounted carriers.
I've made a few of these carriers for Defender owners. They're powder coated steel and utilise Thule cradles and 'no sway cages' which prevent the bikes from swinging back and forth by strapping to the vertical bar on the bike.
The bars fold up out of the way, or the whole carrier is easily removed.

They can be made to take 1, 2, 3, or 4 bikes.

These are not a stock item, but can be manufactured on request. There might be a waiting period depending how busy I am at the time.

How much would the bike overhang on the drivers side if used with a dual carrier?
I do like the look of this design...
Might have to add it to my upcoming order!

Unfortunately I've deleted the bike carrier from my product range.
The main reason for this is the huge variation in the shape of bike frames these days, many just don't fit the traditional type rack with the two parallel arms.
I highly recommend a rack where the bikes are supported by the wheels. From my own experience I prefer this type of rack.

But for rough off road use I would get something a bit more robust like an ISI (http://isi-carriers.com/features.html) or similar.
