Which engine? 'Had the head off' singular - suggests the TD6? Have you managed to track it down to an area - front or rear of the engine? A bit more info would help.

Cheers - Gav

Hi Gav,
Thanks for the reply.
Its a 2002 V6TD and the vehicle has been great. The coolant will go at around a litre a day. Then next day no problems, then it happens again. The head gasket was replaced by dealer during service as they believed it was a lazy seal, but it still happens. Pressure tests come up with no issue, cannot see any staining, fouling build up and hoses look good.
Landrover say not a real issue, just keep topping up!!
Any ideas?

Does it start without any issues or struggling after being left overnight?

I guess by now you would know if it was a heater matrix leak as the carpets would be soggy enough to notice under foot.

You could try running it upto temp and in a pitch black garage shining a bright narrow beam torch around in the engine bay and looking for a fine mist high pressure leak?

There's no evidence of coolant dried out or stains around the filler bottle cap where it might blow out under pressure?

Its got to be going somewhere........

I had a slight leak as well it was coming from the transmission cooler where it attaches to the radiator. After a while it took up again stop leaking.

Hi,
Its been a real mystery. Have been all over the hoses, connections, no stains that I can see. Some hot mornings I can smell the coolant but can't track it. I have access to a pit next week and will have a look under to see what i can find.
Thanks
