AnD3rew cars done 130k.

Not sure if the previous owners ever did them but its around the right km's for them to go Im told. I'm getting some rumble in the front drivers side, comes and goes. Doesn't seem to be CV.

Rotors also need doing so doing it all while I'm there.

Hows your D4 stacking up against your past I, II.?

Unusual to need D4 bearing replacement after only 130k - if 'rumbling' is bearings, you'll need to replace the complete hub as they are a nin servicable item from D2 onwards.

I'd also be having a close look at the lower suspension bushes as these are reported to be a fairly fast wearing item on the D3 & D4's. I've heard of them needing replacement after only 40 or 50,000 k's, and once again, the normal practice is to replace the complete lower arm.

Yep its a complete hub replacement. Makes it a bit of a easier job in a way.

I'll check out the suspension bushes while we are down there.

Mines a D3, but it is brilliant, best car of any variety I have ever owned and massively more reliable than either the 1 or 2.

Anyone else got any preferred dealers or indies they would recommend who don't stack too much cream on top of the price?

I have replaced all but 1 wheel bearing/ hub on a certain d3, covered only 110K. lots of heavy touring and off road work though. Also had CV/ shaft X1, steering rack, EAS compressor, all shocks, brakes, numerous suspension bushes, the list goes on.....

From what I have seen when inquiring Karcraft is the best in Sydney.

Called Karcraft. Good prices indeed so thanks guys.

Bearings not in stock so will do rotors this weekend, check the rest out, and go from there.

If not bearing hopefully not suspension or control arm.

Could be rotor related noise but while the are worn considerably there is no external noise when braking or driving next to say a wall or car where sound reflects back.

Get the RRS bushes (used on the armoured D3/4) or the whole contol arm.
