Hi Guys

Has anyone experience at running the BFG 265 65 18 ATs with an OD of 802mm on a D4 with an ARB bull bar fitted.

On GOE rims

I hear the wing on the bull bar could cause rubbing?

Thanks Peter

Hi Peter,
I do know that the Cooper LTZs foul with the ARB bar. They have an OD of 800mm.

Cheers, Craig

Yes the LTZ (285) caused me issues with the ARB. Ended up with the AT3

When did these come out I checked the website and couldn't find them, they are a crap tyre for longevity (soft compound) but great for the tough stuff.

Gordon (GOE) uses these on his Rangie.
There are pics on his site.

Play tyres need to be soft, that reduces cutting. Hard rubber gives extended mlleage but generally at reduced grip (longer braking distance, etc). Wheels are cheap to buy on eBay, therefore IMHO it pays to have 2 sets of tyres, one for every day use (they could be AT's) and play tyres (MTR's). The long term cost could be neutral.

Where on the ARB bullbar does the 265/60/r18 foul.

I can understand the LTZ 285 width fouling being 30mm wider than OEM

265/60/18 is OK. It is the 265/65/18 which may be a little large.

Had a play in the mud on the weekend for the first time with the Cooper LTZ's.
Best AT off road tyre I have ever had. I was very surprised at their performance in the mud.
If you can put up with a slight hum on the black stuff, they are a good choice of AT tyre.

So can I confirm you have Cooper AT3's 265/60/R18's with an ARB bar on a D3 and they don't require any mods and don't foul anywhere?

I ask because I am tempted

Last time I looked at Gordon's website he had the Maxxis for sale for what looked like a Very reasonable price.

I have these on my D4 so I do not see an issue for the D3

I have Cooper 265 60 18 A/T on my D3 with ARB bar not a problem. The only problem is the longevity of these tyres. Have been rotating 5 tyres every 5thou to 8thou, have 43000 on them which I estimate only 5thou left, Not good for 5 tyres. On the other hand have had them in mud sand rock with no problems. Very quite on the road. The load rating is only 109 which is the bottom what LR recommend for this vehicle. Next tyres are going to be Bridgestone Dueler A/T 265/60R 18 LT load rating 114 speed s with a OD of 775. The standard load rating for factory fitted tyres is 112, so I think these tyres with a heaveier wall may be quite good.

Just clocked over 25,000Klm's on the Cooper LTZ 285/60/18's and have not rotated the spare. They have worn very evenly and at this rate, I expect another 40K out of them.
They have a load rating of 120 and an OD of 800mm.

Thanks to everyone who has responded.

I had almost settled on the Mickey Thompson 265 60 18 STZ until Tinman threw in the Bridgestone options.

Does anyone have an opinion the Bridgestone or Mickey Thompsons.

Thought I had closed this off once I had made the big decision to order the 18" rims.
