Just secured another 86" as we'll as an 80".
The 86" is mostly complete but has a vanguard motor in it. The original donk is also there.
The 80" is a little more banged up but has it's original donk.
Might be flogging my current 86" to make room for these (hint).
Will post some pics.

And people think Series 1s are rare - they all just live in people's backyards.

Not perfect barn finds but the 86" has alot of potential (really just needs new front guards & a small chassis repair). The 80" well.......I didn't want to see it scrapped and it still has alot of original parts. It's all there somewhere, just gotta round it up.
There was also some "other" parts there for something real special!

Chassis damage a little more than I thought but should be fixable.
Gotta get rid of the 80" and get the body and chassis I found out East.

Guys coming over to look at the 80"tomorrow so I hope that will go.
The other 86" I have just sold (see previous posts) is also going this weekend & so has a guest LRPV of one of mates so I will have some room to start strippin' my new 86".
I know Andy is lurking in the background....I have that tub and other early 48/9 bits here too! I'll post up some pics tomorrow...

Big crease in the chassis rail. Drivers side engine mount replaced.

Cliffy

Yeah, Got some good bits.
The bonnet in the back is from a 48/9 vehicle.
They must have wrecked one:o

Landy Smurf
26th December 2012, 03:56 PM
that is one of the problems with the series vehicles , is that you never know who had it or what its life was like and the older they get the harder it is.

Cliffy

Yeah!!!
Got the other body and chassis!!!!!
Back in business!!!

Vanguard engine was a good choice for an engine swap, I know of 3 Series 1's. that we're around here in Cessnock back in the late 60's that were fitted with them, they went very well BTW, cheers Dennis:angel:

Yeah, I agree Dennis, looks to be a perfect substitute esp. when Vanguards were common.
So I got up early as the guy who had the body/chassis 55' gave it to me and I had the trailer till 9am (did I not say both he and his wife are great people!).
Dropped it on with a front end loader and I got it off with my trolley and Kanga jack.
Appart from the 2 central x-members (surprise surprise) the chassis is great and most if not all of the body panels are repairable. As this came from Station country, the bulkhead has NO holes and appart from a little surface rust is schweet!
I will easily be able to get one pretty good bus out of the 2.
I'll build it up on the 55' chassis.

*Got a wave from a 130 driver on the way back too ;o)

The hard top looks like it came from Middle Earth with the amount of moss and Lychen on it!
Do ya recon bleach will kill it fast??

Landy Smurf
27th December 2012, 01:11 PM
that one looks good to and with both of them you should build a really good one.
I have not cleaned a hard top before, i would start with hot water with a pressure cleaner and maybe a bristle brush

The wagon looks good :BigThumb:, pretty straight apart from the front guards. Are you going to leave the vanguard engine in it? Would be something different. When the time comes I have a proper ignition switch to suit.

Cliffy
27th December 2012, 07:36 PM
Hi,
Um ....no the VG motor is getting the chuck.
I have the original motor from the 54' but I need to strip and see what horrors are inside.
Klonk, is that a VG ignition??'
Cheers dude. I may have one already though.
