Hi guys this is my first thread, I have a 1995 110 tdi wagon, for about 12 years. I'm going to fit a transmission cooler for the R380 gearbox. I have the fitting that attaches to the gearbox, but nothing else. I stumbled across a thread about gearbox coolers on your website but couldn't find it again. Can you give mea tip about the trhead or any advice about fitting the cooler. The front of the defender is pretty tight for space to fit the cooler , with the AC, plus I have a low mount 9000lb warn there as well.

cheers simmo:)

Welcome to the Forum

this thread may be what your looking for,
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defender-county/159508-defender-td5-r380-oil-cooler.html

its a Td5 but same deal with Tdi except you will need to run your hoses all the way back to the gearbox as you dont have the metal pipe under the engine.

The cooler is great, I have fitted one with XD9000 winch & A/C and it dosent get in the way of anything.

Be sure to post up some pics of yours when your done.

Thanks Wizard, I have the connection for the gearbox, I could buy a LR cooler pipe and cut it up and use the steel pipes as the fittings for the rubber hoses going to the oil cooler. OR i could buy the right fitting with a hose tail to suit the rubber hoses. ( a more elegant solution) Looking at the piece that goes on the gearbox, it looks like a special type of fitting is used.

I could also just tap out the connection piece to NPT and fit standard hose tails .

My defender has AC etc, where has everyone been fitting their GB coolers.

It's got to get some wind but not be vulnerable to damage.

does anyone have any suggestions? cheers simmo
