Hey,
I am looking for an offroad caravan. I have seen in the net the Kimberley Karawan Series X. Is there an owner who can tell about that? Is the caravan worth the money? Or is there a good alternative?
In Europe is nothing omparable available. we want go to Iceland, also to Southern Europe and later to "down under"...
Any help is very welcome!

Check out the ' Earth cruiser ', and the 'AOR Odyssey' ( they have a couple of other models in their range ) the ' T Van Topaz' , and the ' Vista RV crossover'.
Along with the 'Kimberley Karavan', there are a few good ideas in that lot.
You should pick all of them up with a net search.

Welcome Lutz:D
Do you want to export one to Germany?
our vans are very heavy compared to everywhere else,, a good off-road model will sit near 3T fully loaded, your vehicle may pull it legally,, but does your drivers licence allow it?
also all the components, wheels, springs, brakes etc will be from local firms,, spares might be a problem?,, though I would think bearings and brake linings would be manageable.
Having said all that,, a Bushtracker would eat Europe;)

Hi Lutz,
The Kimberley van your looking at is excellent for serious off road usage and is reasonably small and reasonably light weight in comparison to many other Aussie built off road vans. Not being Aluminium clad has its advantages re damage from hail stones or bouncing off trees in tight spots etc.
Mind you Trees aren't such an issue in Iceland ... :p
Inside they are quite spartan for the money they cost but they can be optioned up with nearly every useful option you will ever need for reasonably long term independent camping in remote areas.
Personally for driving around Australia I to would like a Bushtracker as Pedro mentioned, but they are massive and more like a travelling 3.5 ton luxury hotel suite in comparison to the nimble Kimberley.
cheers,
Terry
