I seem to recall when I looked at a few 130s several years ago that there was a big empty space under the rear seats that was open at the top and could be accessed by tilting the seats forward. In my Puma 130, the box that the back seats sit on is all closed up and presumably full of cold, damp English air or hidden drug money or something. Has anyone accessed this space? Seems like it should be a good spot for a water tank or recovery kit or the like.

Dont know about pumas,no doubt you could fabricate something similar to earlier ones.I cut mine across where the single seat is, hinged that section and if you tilt seat forward you can access that area.I store tools, snatch strap ect.there.

Mine is '97 build and has a cover clipped down on top. Not unlike the covers on the seat boxes up front.

Pod, yes it is a big empty void, and yes you can get a water tank, or fuel tank in there. You'll get about 55lt.
If you want to use it like the storage compartment with a hole in it as Tdi's have, then you will have to work around getting the seats to pivot forward. They are already hinged as you know, but bolted at the top. The hinge that bolts to the front of the box takes some internal box space but not a lot.

My build page in members rides has several pics of the box and water tank I installed.
