I need to replace my front left door on my 97 discovery, I think I need to remove the front guard, is that correct? What else do I need to know?
Thanks

Nah mate dont take guard off take off door card unplug your electrics, then knock roll pin out of check strap. Undo the 4 torx bits on hinges, these are shimmed so remember where they go. You may need to stuff around with the shims on your new door to get it even and shutting flush.

On my Disco 1994 model you dont need to remove the hinges, there is a "C" clip on each hinge, simply remove the clips and the door will lift off without disturbing the hinges, which are a PITA to readjust, i.e. after disconnecting wiring and door restraint, Regards Frank.

Yeah I did that the first time mate on my old disco, when I put the new door on I had to adjust the bloody shims anyway cause it didn't line up exactly which was a bugger to get spot on!. I put a 300tdi door on my old 200tdi had to swap some electrics too cause the plugs were different on the internals! That was 5 years ago so I can't remember what was different!

did a couple on an old Rangie (same door, different skin), just disconnect electrics, pull the clips off the hinge pins and lift off, leave the hinges alone, I got lucky with mine and that was it, lined up fine.
good luck
