Hi guys, I have managed to pick up a 2nd hand one of the above - bu its missing the mounting kit; I have the 4 rear brackets now (ex UK Disco4.co.uk member) - but still need the front two supports (that bolt into the lower roof). If anyone knows where I might obtain same - possibly UK - can you let me know?

Alternatively, anyone in Brisbane with a Rack (off the car at present) who is prepared to lend me the front supports so i can see if I can get some made (copied) - would be very greatful!!!!

I assume you have the roof rails fitted already.

Cheers

yes. I suspect the front two supports are not critical unless you put weight towards the front...but I'd prefer to have them anyway.

I've got such a rack and the front supports, not long ago I moved house and would need to find them. But they are very simple pressings from relatively light gauge stainless, If you get stuck let me know and I will dig them up over the weekend and draw them up for you. There is also a little plastic fairing that goes around them that would be much harder to make up, and is really not required. You still need the regular roof rails that fit from the bump back, but not the extended roof rail kit.

As to your second post. I would not even consider driving without the two front supports wieght or not.

Thanks Kenl, that would be great; I've had a rack before (sold with my D4) so I know them well. I found this:

Expo Rack Fitting Kit - GN Vehicle Protection (http://www.gnvehicleprotection.co.uk/expo-rack-fitting-kit.html)

and got VERY excited (!) but they only have the rear 4 brackets (which I snapped up), not the front supports. I have written to them asking if they have the drawings so I can get some made up.

Kenl, are you in Perth? Its just I'm over your way in two weeks.

No I'm about 200km south, I'll try and dig them out today.

Here is a sketch up (rough drawing) of the bracket and a couple of photo's too. I hope this helps, if I've missed something let me know. By the way they are very magnetic so probably not Stainless steel

About to purchase an Expedition Rack on line and note that the "Short Rail Kit" is required. The only kit i can find says "Short Roof Rail Kit - "Bright Finish" - does anyone know what bright finish means and if the rails are black? Do i need anything more than that? Must say that I am surprised the HSE does not come with the Roof Rail Kit as standard. Thanks in advance.
