View Full Version : D3 Stereo's ...Do They All Come With Dash Mounted Speakers?

I'm looking at ordering a dash mat for the D3 and was wondering if some one could check their D3 and see if their one also has the square fairly large speaker in front of the dash in the centre just by the windscreen.

The reason I ask is my D3 has the Logic 7 stereo fitted and I was wondering if this is one of the extra speakers, if it is then the standard dash mat won't fit, if it is then all is good.

Thanks in advance.

cheers,
Terry

Terry - my RRS only has the mid spec system but does have the speaker grill without the speaker on top of the dash. The dash cover I have is moulded to take into account the speaker and the little light sensor that is also there.
I don't think there are to many differences between the D3 and RRS in this regard.

Hi Terry,
The centre speaker grill with light sensor is present on all D3s, as mentioned by Garry. The centre speaker on a D3 with Logic 7 is the same as the midrange in the front doors. The dashmat I used on my D3 and D4 has a cutout for the light sensor, and holes for the sound from the centre speaker to pass through, if somewhat muffled and not as dispersed. The carpet that covers the subwoofer in the tailgate also has holes in it, but sub frequencies are not directional and more powerful - so it doesn't matter there as much. You could just take to the dashmat with a stanley knife if it sounds cr@p.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi Lucas,

I ordered the dash mat from Shevron Dash Mats on ebay. It cost about $58 including postage. I'll let you know how it goes, but if its the same as Rob's then they look like a good thing.

They reckon it will take over two weeks to get here.

cheers,
Terry

BTW Terry - they ship them in a surprisingly small envelope. When you take it out, it will have fold marks in it: don't panic! They take a couple of days in hot weather to mould back to shape.
