All things going well I am anticipating being near Brisbane overnight 10-12-12. This is if all goes well collecting my Defender from Bundy and getting permits etc.
So I will be with a mate, and staying at my brothers house at UPPER KEDRON, looking for a cheap and easy place for tea and maybe a catch up/meet and greet with you brisbanites? (if you can bear to put up with me) if any of you are interested.
On the 10th hoping to get out of Bundy as soon as I can, down south to collect a no. 5 Richard O has been patiently holding for me and then back to Upper Kedron, Not looking for too late of a night (those who have seen me know that I am that ugly I am in need of a beauty coma).
OK open to suggestions, I know nothing at all of Queensland (except the bottom left corner that I have tribed about a mob of times in both work and private cars...)

They are building a new one but it's not finished yet.
Best bets for somewhere close to Upper Kedron would be Gaythorne RSL or Arana Leagues Club.

My late mother had a set-in-concrete criterion for determining the desirability of a suburb as a place of residence. "Who'd want to live there? It's past the tram terminus." or "It's way out at tram stop 32.Why would anyone live that far out."

Aah! but our tram stop was 29 on the Balmoral line ;) then about a 1.4 mile walk up Bennets Rd to home,29 was the Balmoral cemetry gates,I will never forget when a packed workers cable braked Dropcentre jumped the tracks and went straight up through the cemetry gates  I was on the next tram after
Balmoral--Ascot Doomben-Ascot Oriel Pk later routes 60 & 70 :)
And now Norman Park/Seven Hills is an inner suburb!

What about Geebung/Zillmere RSL close to rail for those without wheels or returning from work, good food at a reasonable price ample parking and nice surrounds :D
V8Ian
4th December 2012, 12:18 PM
Geebung's a bit far out for anyone southside and a fair step from Upper Kedron.
Last time I ate at Gaythorn RSL it was very ordinary, the contract caters seemed more concerned with making a buck from one visit rather than repeat custom.

I'll step in here.:p
I live in Ferny Hills..near Upper Kedron and Ferny Grove....let's get something straight, right from the get go.
Upper Kedron is a Mc suburb. 680m2 blocks, narrow eaves, traffic calming streets. That does not make it 'posh'! That makes it passe.
Ferny Hills on the other hand is different. In real estate terms, Ferny Hills is the 'Heights' with Ferny Grove the 'flats'.:D
The FG tavern has indeed been demolished so the punter from Ferny Grove can park their cars to go to work in the city:mad:.
A new one is being built about 150m away from the old:D.
I'll have a beer with you Digger and anyone else that wants to for that matter.
Finn McCools indeed is real close to Upper Kedron and also has other food joints in the same precinct. Fush&Chups, Pizza, Subway, Indian, etc.
A few km away is the Samford tavern which has a reasonably priced menu based on large chunks of beef and a nostalic original bar from last century.
You need to be a guest of a member to go in the Arana leagues club.
If all are meeting somewhere else, I can be flexible.
Cheers
Let me know.

As digger has to pick up the No5 trailer from the south side he will be very close to a large group of us and accessible to the Gold Coast members if any one wants to say hello to him, so we on the south side could all meet at Fitzy's hotel at Loganholme I can get the courtesy bus. for a coffee and chat.
He could them join the north side members at a place of their choice Its just a matter of working the times out and staying with an organiser. Those from the outback areas (Ipswich) then have an option of north or south.
All those that agree please stand be counted
