Am trying to identify the current springs and needs on my Defender.

Currently my Defender rear springs have double orange stripes, any idea of the rating? I can only find a Discovery 1 with orange stripes, no Defender rears.

Again for the front I think I can see the remnants of two white stripes, but what should I fit when changing from a Defender V8 to 4BD1-T engine? I guess the Defer V8 will be a similar rating to the county V8.

I suppose you have compared coil dia between front and back? Being an LRSV with a lot of suspension going on in a small area, could it have Disco/Rangie rears?

the rears are a significantly thicker material and a larger diameter than rangie coils.

Is the larger diameter normal for Defender rears?

Yeah Def 110 and 130 rears are larger diameter than fronts, so you're on the right track.

Now I have winch and bar fitted i'll get my County axle weights measured to get some suitable springs. I'm aiming for 180lb/inch fronts, just need to know the length to get it all level.

Hi Ali

Thanks for the chart. It doesn't seem to differentiate between V8 and 4BD1 110?

Am pretty sure the stripes are 2 orange, but will investigate if actually two red (faded)

That'd likely be because the Isuzu County 110s had locally made front springs, I haven't found the specs for them yet but would love to know!

Yeah land rover never sold the Isuzu lump in a defender in Europe. So they were retro fitted here in Aus.
