I think hes bemoaning the fact that the euro fords get the 2.2l transit donk and the yanks get a 3.2..

its simple.

no 2.2l has enough go in it to haul a full van, the weight of the van, a trailer AND an American.

these engines are also in local Ford Ranger and Mazda BT50 so pretty sure some engines from smashed utes will find their way into Defenders before too long.

As long as someone can develop a stand alone ECU that doesnt cost more then the car and engine like in the UK...

They dont have enough power to pull themselves either. Total dog of an engine that performs no better than a Toyota Coaster with a 1Hz.

I worked for a motor home dealer and we would not take a transit in as a trade unless they gave it away. They are crap and even new they always came back to the Ford dealer on the back of a tilt truck. I think it was to do mainly with fuel pumps.

Ah ha, so we're not the only ones- our boss at work had to go out and get a hire van today as the work Transit van is still at the mechanics after 1 week. Something about a fuel pump apparently......

I used to work at a place where the company provided a free bus service to and from work. They used Ford Transit van buses. Everyone used to take a turn at driving the bus each day and at one particular spot, on a hill, there would have been only about 2 people who could get the bus to pull away without stalling or reving the guts out of it. We then went to UK and hired a Transit motorhome for 3 weeks. EVERYTIME I tried to ge this heap to pull away it needed heaps of revs. Once it was mobile it went ok. :(
