Currently in the process of buying myself an early christmas present - as the title says its an awning. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with either the Tigerz 11 or the Roo Systems awnings - they are the two I'll be chosing out of unless convinced otherwise in this thread haha.
The Tigerz is currently $189 and the Roo Systems is $229

I wouldn't touch either of them to be honest.
Apart from being involved with 4wd Action and the silly old goose Roothy. I have had nothing but grief with the 4wd Action tossers. There as dodgy as.
As for the awning there cheap Chinese crap my cousin bought one from Roo systems and if arrived complete with a stress fracture in the alloy cross member. He rand them straight away without even fitting to the truck and there response was bad luck buddy you must of broke it during fitting.
Currently he is seeking compensation thru the courts.
So all I can say is buyer beware.

What brand would you recommend if not one of those two?
Cheers for the feedback

Also to the Mod who moved this thread out of General Chat, could you please atleast move it to Camping, this has nothing to do with camper trailers. I had a good look at the sections before posting this and thought that it was quite applicable for general chat but if not then the only other option should be the camping section.
Sorry to those looking for camper trailer information in this area.

not sure which mod moved it but he got it pretty close....an awaning could turn your rig into a camper trailer:p
i have moved it to camping
i have a supawing awning fitted to my defender, i reckon its the ducks guts and will out last my camping days.........i had a low end one for 10 years and retired it when the stitching started to fail on the cover. went top end this time hoping i will get the same life with a few added bonuses. supawing is a big investment though

Thanks for that weeds! What was the low end brand awning? And how much did it roughly cost? I'm pretty happy with a 10yr life span to be honest with you, especially if its for $189 haha I can live with that!

the previous owner fitted the awning and bu ggered if i can remember the brand, pretty sure it was made in Rockhampton.
if you can picture the blue tarp type material, it was the heavy duty stuff and stretched out 4m. i could use it full length, or 3/4 length and peg it straight to the ground with no poles.....

For a straight awning id go oztrail currently at $279
Or if your after a full awning that wraps around the back or the vehicle - well there is only one. That would be the Foxwing by Oztent. We have sold thousands, they are built strong and your able to zip other awnings, oztents, tagalong to it. Oh and we`ve just released a floor for it too. Available all around Australia
Pm me for more details

The Oz Tent jobbie looks the goods to me. My son has one. You can be modular and join your Oz Tent to it... I have a Jet Tent... I wonder if it will join up to it? Hmmm

I put one together (2.4m x 2m) for $100...self supporting (no vertical poles) or use poles with pegs in wind, adjustable for when facing setting sun! Tarp can be used for other things when not for shade...
Takes less than 2 mins to setup/dismantle

Got a quote from hannibal and it's way out of my price range - can't justify spending $1000 on an awning thats smaller than I wanted originally anyway. Thanks for the help though.

Shamo - spend a few more dollars and get a "quality" awning that will last for years & years...
