Air intake duct disintegrating?

I just checked the air filter, and while it seemed reasonably clean the air intake ducting looks pretty far from ok.

I am guessing it is not supposed to look like this. Will this be a problem and should I look into replacing this part of the ducting? If so, how do I find the part number? I have a 1999 D2 V8.

Certainly not normal :D I be thinking of a rattrap in there as it looks like rodent induced! Dont know about a part no but your friendly local dealer should know :)

I'd personally try a rubber boot of some description, when I put my snorkle on didn't think much of that part then...:mad:

Use self sealing tape; available from marine shops and from jaycar. It's handy for lots of repairs.
