Fuel sender access

I've tried doing a google search and I've found the location of the sender/pump unit is under the rear floor.
How the hell do you get the rear carpet up without dismantling everything??

The carpet extends only slightly under the side trims. You remove the rear tread and can lever the carpet up in the middle so that it comes away from the trim. Another way to do it is to use a sharp stanley style knife and cut the carpet a few inches in from the trim; I think from memory that this is the recommended method.
