Did anyone see today tonight (think thats the name of the show) earlier?
A guy was rear ended, and had one of those dash cams. the ute which rear ended him then proceeded to spend the next ten or so minutes trying to ram him off the road, before eventualy blocking him in and the driver got out, jumped on the bonnet of the innocent guy and punched in the windscreen before he managed to drive off.
Genuine pyscho! :nazilock:

Spot on Uncle, that was exactly what I was thinking. Some of the responses from the 000 operator were worrying. Had the victim been a young inexperienced girl the outcome could have been a lot different. That bloke need sorting out to say the least.

yeh assuming we are being told the full story and the guy rear ended him (probably accidently) and nothing more, it is insane how crazy his behaviour was considering it was him who rear ended the guy in the bravo?! AND had his mrs (well a woman) in the car with him as he was behaving in such a way.
makes me want to get a dash cam!

it would have been interesting to see him trying to do that to a land rover / cruiser / patrol or similar. low range and ram his car as hard as you can would be key i think.

Yes, if had been a more timid driver or female it could have been worse,he seemed like grevious bodily harm was on his mind, as for fronting up at the police station, maybe after he buys an airline ticket :wasntme:
It really makes me wonder what is happening these days,a bloke was murdered in a Caboolture park last night at about 9.00 pm,victim was 49yrs old assailant 19yrs old, motive robbery 50 cents!!!!!

It's a good thing we don't have concealed carry laws here in Aus. If this had happened in some US states the outcome would be wayyy different.:(. They'd be calling the meatwagon first, then the cops :(
We had an incident some years back when we were directly threatened during a road rage, at the time I had the same above thought. "What if he had had a gun?? where would we stand?" :o
What a loony, certainly appears to have a serious balance issue.

I was driving a HZ premier & a huntsman was walking across the windscreen, I whaked it with my fist, only enough to hopefully squash the spider , unfortunatly I smashed the screen ( from the inside)
Ironic thing is the spider was actually on the outside !!!!! Duh

Driving is a privilege, not a right.
That guy should have his licence cancelled never to be issued again.
And go to anger management.
This incident does not surprise me. Victorians are very rude drivers. They're not very forgiving and not very courteous.
There are a lot of angry people out there on Victorian roads. Just like that fellow in that video. I see it every day and experience it often (the last time was yesterday). Not neccessarily to that extent, but there is a lot of anger out there on them there roads.

that is strange Mick,
On my limited number of trips to VIC, my experience had been quite the opposite... I was particularly impressed with driver behaviour in the inner melbourne suburbs.
But then again I came with experience of the NSW situation :o , where the selfish and dangerous will do aything to get one vehicle space ahead.
Maybe it has deteriorated everywhere in the last few years with a lot of these jerks unable to distinguish between when they are playing a computer game and when they are driving on the roads.

It doesn't matter whether its drivers from any state in Australia the fact is there are looney's everywhere.
As I have always said the gene pool needs more chlorine.
The nutter on TT was definitely chemically enhanced. What I would be more interested in is the events just prior to the attack. Did the other driver do something to provoke it or maybe was just a **** driver who cut the other guy off.
Something must of happened but being a ex cop from either NSW or QLD he wouldn't to able to tell the truth if he tried.

and in reply to the post by Mick_Marsh would be interesting to know if he still holds a license and from where.

The bigger worry is... the seemingly laid-back response, content with waiting for the person to present himself....in the morning. It is so un-enthusiastic that one could be forgiven for thinking that this behaviour is viewed as minor, - or the perpetrator is an off-duty police officer. Or worse, a villain who is so well-known and feared by the coppers....that he's allowed to dictate terms.
Tell me that the 'whole story' has'nt been told !!!- Please...
Was'nt the video good enough to read the rego ? If so, then I'd have hoped for Police being at this bloke's residence within the hour. Bet they would have been if he'd shot a copper...
Any updates from over there?

More Dash cams are required, they are as cheap as anything on EBay, self installed around $50.
These things constantly record once key is turned on, the more people forward records of this behavior to the police or TV, the more likely a decrease will start to occur.
It just ain't gonna happen by itself its all becoming more frequent and violent in every State.

You have no idea of what is required to restrain this type of aggressor, I know only too well this guy would have needed more than 2 cops to restrain & cuff him, probably 4 or more if he was on PCP or similar drugs. Tasers and the like have little effect on these people.

Personally, I'm unimpressed with the quality of many CCTV recordings, and I'm seeing a huge variation in dash-cams (as on you tube etc) - Some worse than useless...
Normally you only get what you pay for, but sometimes - as in the Cheap UHF CB's on the communication thread, there are screaming bargains out there amongst the rubbish...
For starters, a two-channel - front & rear - seems to be the minimum ideal.

when you upload a dash cam footage to youtube it is compressed and serious quality loss.
here is some you tube footage from mine

I am surprised the police have not arrested the offending driver !!! seems pretty black and white to me. And even if the other driver did cut him off the reaction was a total over reaaction.

There is very little said in the TT piece about what started the fracas. At the beginning of the video the victim can be seen pulling away from a set of lights in the left lane. The left lane then ends with a "Form One Lane" sign and he merges to the right. Based on my own similar experience, I suspect the victim has pulled across in front of the black Navara who has objected unreasonably. What we don't see is what happened before the encounter at the lights or whether the Navara was in fact right beside the victim when he merged. The victim says he was hit from behind but that can be subjective if he in fact clipped the side of the Navara.
There's always more to these things... but none of this excuses the psychopath from driving a Nissan!

im glad you brought this up.
At the beginning of the video the victim can be seen pulling away from a set of lights in the left lane. The left lane then ends with a "Form One Lane" sign and he merges to the right. Based on my own similar experience, I suspect the victim has pulled across in front of the black Navara who has objected unreasonably.
the camera doesnt show everything, however i dont see the ute in the frame at all. so i dont think its in front at the merge bit of the road. and hence the ute should be giving way.
the video does show (at the 26sec mark) him appearing to be hit from behind. the object in the camera moves forward, not to the side, indicating to me he was hit from behind and not hit from the side.
later in the video, it shows the ute revering into the mans car. the speed of the ute is very clear and you can see the car being moved by the impact.
also when the ute jumps on the brakes and the man rear ends the ute. the camera jolts
in the initial encounter i cant see effects of being hit from behind. the car isnt jolted or moved to the side and i can only conclude the initial rear ending was soft with both cars being at a similar speed.
What we don't see is what happened before the encounter at the lights
are you suggesting something else happened at the lights?

I have dash cam fitted to my car. Invaluable bit of gear last Thursday had a minor accident. Idiot driver came out of side street thru a stop sign. I hit his R/H front.
When he finally decided to get out of the car and screaming because i dent his pride and joy. BTW did i mention his car was a Maserati. Anyway fair bit of damage to his car. like tow truck time for him. Couple of paint scuffs to my bullbar. He had already called the cops and started scream all this abuse and saying i was speeding ect.
The cops showed up. (surprised I was). After he got to them first and a lot of arm waving and pointing the cops wandered over to me and ask me my side of things. I just directed them to the cam and played it back. All resolved.
The other driver got done for failing to stop, dangerous driving, making a false report to police.
So all in all the $50 cam has saved mega legal costs

We have been told innumerable times that the aim is to keep the forum G rated. It is quite possible to discuss a wide range of topics without putting that G rating at risk.
I like it that way and I suspect a lot of others do too. However what I think is of no real importance. The forum is set up that way. If I don't like it I can leave. There are other forums where it seems anything goes. If you don't like the rules here, you might be happier in one of them.

So Mr PC ROVER you imposed a penalty against a member of pure hear say.
You failed to verify the content of the video clip by you own admission.
How do you know that the comment wasn't a malicious attack against this member.
This this a blatant abuse of a privileged position and I think this action was totally uncalled for and very much a ego trip on your behalf.
Strongly reccommend you verify any comment before going of on a tangent.
Maybe you should re-read what I wrote. I wouldn't have played the video had I not been alerted to it.

DITTO, Being a Melbourne-ite there is no way I can defend Melbournes drivers (or its weather)
I have never driven in any non english speaking country (except Box Hill or Springvale) , but have also driven all over Australia , and every state of USA except Alaska. Melbourne IS defenetlty the worst place to drive, I regularly drive in Adelaide & Sydney, Adeliaide is close to the nicest & most courteous CITY I've ever drive in, the people fall ove backwards to let you in, Sydney is not good, but no where as near as bad as Melbourne.
People warned me that LA, Chicago & NYC were not good to drive in unless you live there, but we found the opposite, they are a breeze, almost pleasand - probably people there are courteous because they expect you to have a gun ???
i find pommy drivers very courteous. Driving through most towns back home is a breeze (i havnt done a great deal of London driving though)

I don't reckon that Melb drivers are too bad in general. There is an element that are just chronically bad. It's mostly that they are just bloody pushy, and can't stand the thought that anyone else might gain a fraction of a millimetre of "advantage". You know the kind: weaving in and out of freeway traffic at a 140kmh (the last bloke I saw doing that got pulled over by cops about 45 seconds later), driving through red lights into intersections only to get stuck midway and end up blocking cross traffic, driving down closed lanes so they can force their way in further down the queue because they are ohhh soooo special and sooo much more important than everyone else. This is all usually done with a Mobile pressed to their ear.

Ex cop.........ex where? He had what appeared to be a Saffa accent, he could have been a third world country officer, where the standards and training are not up to the high results of this country. Being an ex or serving cop does not make one Superman, they are all human like the rest of us with senses of fear and self presevation. I think he handled the situation quite well, all things considered.
The goose did not surrender himself, as he allegedly stated he would, this morning. The police are looking for him. There could be dozens or reasons the police have not been able to locate him yet. Watched similar being done to a young woman once south of Adelaide.
I was in the D1 (the big bugger I had) and decided to "step in"...
Took a hit to the rear, another on the corner of the bullbar... But kept him from getting the young, panicked woman...
She got away - later saw her at the police station...
At the next traffic lights old mate decided to get out of his vehicle and charge towards me...
I sprung from the drivers side, holding my.. umm... peacemaker and let him have the verbal "Come on then d... head..."
Never seen a bloke run a red light to get away so quickly...
And for good measure, chased him down and made a few threatening gestures on the industrial estate road he was speeding down. :)
Never had an issue with that very distinctive vehicle ever again.
And in relation to firearms... If we were a nation of "right-to-carry" - I can tell ya' - I'd be carrying

The guy with the cam sounded to me like he was from South Africa. They never said where he was an ex-copper.
That said, I think he showed a lot of restraint. He went way out of his way to avoid further confrontation, even driving on the wrong side of the road, and on a deserted footpath.
As for the 000 operator, this would have actually been a police operator. We don't get much of the call, but for all we know, there could have been patrols en-route, but trying to find 2 moving vehicles, on what appears to be a couple of fairly long, major roads, is not easy. The operator DID tell him to head to a police station, and that Logan was open.
As for driving in other cities, I would prefer to drive in Sydney or Melbourne over Adelaide, any day. At least if you by a second hand car from here, you know the indicators are in "as new condition"

In subsequent media interviews, he said he was an ex policeman. From where, didn't say. To me It just doesn't look right. How many drivers phoned in about what many must have seen. Also after so much aggression, if someone ran at me like that, after what happened previous, I would regard it as a life threatening situation [ and the driver suggested that] my foot would have slipped off the clutch, in fear of my life, and, unfortunately, that gentleman would make contact with my front diff.
