Can anyone suggest a product for sealing the 11A seat base components, suitable for preventing dust and water entry. The original rover product has gone very hard (pretty old though!).
Thanks

I used the strip of foam and stuck it to the main part of the panel, it will stop the dust, not so sure about the water, hope this helps

Sikaflex 227, available at Bunnings.
I used this on my SIII
Brief details in post #95 http://www.aulro.com/afvb/other-powered-series-land-rovers/151959-isuzu-c240-powered-series-3-a-10.html
I did find other products and I haven't tried pulling the Sikaflex apart again to see how easy that is but after a gearbox rebuild (earlier in the same thread) I hope I don't have to lift the seatbox again.

Thanks for the ideas. I went to the local auto supplies, he suggested marine mastic.
I have put it together, it certainly filled all gaps etc, but it is still quite tacky after 2 days. I'll keep you posted as to longer term results.

I used Butyl Mastic on the seat box on mine, makes a bit of a mess but will stay soft for a long time to make it easier to get apart if needed later. Much better than the 5-6 laters silicone that was there before that wouldn't come apart and took forever to cut away so it would all fit together properly again.
